Personnel
Farrells have a strong design and technical team with proven
experience of working successfully with clients from diverse sectors
to deliver solutions on time and on budget.
Our senior personnel have a wealth of vision, talent and commitment
and all work closely with Sir Terry Farrell, whilst assuming particular
responsibilities for specific areas of operation. The senior management
team have worked together over several years and their collective
efforts have reinforced Farrells reputation as a continuously developing
international design consultancy. Building on this, the practice draws
on expertise from all over the world and attracts high calibre professionals
who are helping to shape the practice's future. Amongst the
core team are:
John Campbell, Technical Director (joined 1987)
BA (Hons) Arch, Dip Architecture RIBA
John has a wide remit. This includes monitoring all aspects of technical
design and appraisal across the practice's portfolio. John is
widely respected within the industry both in the UK and in the Far
East. He acts as a consultant on a number of industry bodies and is
frequently asked to speak at conferences. John has been responsible
for very large scale projects run from our Hong Kong office such as
the Integrated Transportation Centre for the new Seoul International
Airport in Korea, KCRC's Westrail project in Hong Kong and Kowloon
Station in Hong Kong. Other major projects include the new Home Office
HQ in London, the Green Building in Manchester and Edinburgh International
Conference Centre. However, John has a detailed knowledge of all ongoing
projects both large and small scale - he is the point of reference
within the practice on any technical data from testing requirements
through to current regulations on all aspects of a scheme.
Eugene Dreyer, Urban Design Director (joined 1998)
BA (Hons) Architecture, DIP Urban Design
MSc City & Regional Planning, National Academic Merit Award and various scholarships
Eugene is a Director within the Urban Design Group and leads on major urban design projects.
He has particular expertise in regeneration and his involvement on a range of masterplanning
projects has given him extensive experience of building effective and long lasting client,
consultant and stakeholder relationships. Eugene has worked on schemes both in the UK and
overseas where the objective is to create strong and vibrant mixed-use communities, which have
been aimed at furthering the successful growth of cities and have acted as models which have
influenced urban design and development practice.
John Letherland, Partner – London (joined 1982)
BA (Hons) Arch
John leads the Urban Design Group. His expertise in the areas of masterplanning
and urban design have been applied to a number of high profile, mixed
use, residential, cultural and arts related projects. Urban regeneration
and infrastructure is a central focus. John's team are currently
working on a number of regeneration schemes in core cities throughout
the UK. A key driver is the desire to link communities and places
to enhance the public realm. John works very closely with Sir Terry
Farrell in developing visionary ideas in respect of strategically
important sites – for example, the regeneration of Marylebone-Euston
Road and studies in respect of a coherent plan for the re-making of
The Thames Gateway.
Mike Stowell, Partner – London
BA (Hons), B Arch (Hon), ARB Registration
Mike leads the practice's Design Group. Together with Sir, Terry
Farrell, Mike initiates and manages all the principle design activities
within the practice. His group is responsible for delivering complex,
mixed-use urban regeneration projects. He leads a talented team who
are engaged in hands-on design at all scales – both buildings
and in the urban masterplanning sphere. Utilising experience gained
in the UK and also in Hong Kong and Korea, Mike deals with complex
buildings on sensitive sites, involving negotiations with statutory
bodies, planners, interest groups, English Heritage and CABE. Mike's
depth of knowledge and skills in building effective, long lasting
client, consultant and stakeholder relationships is central to the
practice's success.

Gavin Erasmus, Director – Hong Kong (joined 1992)
HND Construction Management; PDip. Property Development and Investment
Gavin is responsible for directing the daily operations of the Hong
Kong office, specifically focusing on contractual and design management
issues, specification preparation, buildability reviews, construction
liaison and quality assurance.
Gavin has several years of direct experience in providing solutions
in respect of complex, integrated infrastructure projects from inception
to completion. Large scale projects are a particular specialism. His
portfolio includes Kowloon Station, the development of the Kowloon
Southern Rail Link, Hong Kong, Tsuen Wan West Station, Walton Plaza
– an 80,000m2 office tower in Shanghai, China Overseas Offices,
Beijing, and the masterplans for Wuxi Bio Science Park and Yeungjin
University Campus, Korea.
Stefan Krummeck, Director – Hong Kong (joined 1990)
Dipl Ing Arch BayArchG, HKIA
Stefan is responsible for directing key projects in the Hong Kong
office. He has extensive knowledge of the design, planning and integration
of large complex projects through all the stages of procurement.
Stefan has led on the architectural design of some of Farrells most
significant large scale projects, including the Kowloon Southern Link
in Hong Kong, from initial concept and feasibility studies right through
to building completion.
Stefan's experience is diverse, bringing in the design of corporate
office buildings such as Walton Plaza in Shanghai and the Zhongtiejian
Tower in Shenzhen, both 200m tall office towers and spanning residential
design – for example, Mount Davis Villa in Hong Kong.
In addition to architectural projects Stefan is an expert in masterplanning,
and has directed the masterplan design for Nanyou District in Shenzhen,
Chongming Island, Linyi Riverfront, Wuxi Bio Science Park and Yeungjin
University Campus in Korea. |
