Tsuen Wan West Station, Hong Kong
In 1996, the Hong Kong government and the Kowloon Canton Railway
Corporation initiated a strategic railway link along the west of
Kowloon and the New Territories. Historically, the bulk of Hong
Kong's development has been on the east side of the territory,
predominantly on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the (east) Kowloon
Canton Railway. This new railway link supports the Lantau Airport
Railway in generating development along the west side of the territory,
including West Kowloon Reclamation and Lantau Island. West Rail
would also establish the all-important second border crossing between
China and Hong Kong. |
